Private hot tub under the covered patio with string lights at Lazy Moose Lodge

♨️ Private hot tub, running all winter

A Bullfrog hot tub under the covered patio with string lights, open year-round, included with every stay and serviced between guests. The usual winter rhythm: trails or Yellowstone all day, the fireplace and the hot tub all evening. (Installed summer 2026, so the photo is from then; the snow version is coming.)

Groomed trails out the door, Yellowstone down the road

Island Park is one of the big snowmobile destinations in the West, and the cabin sits in Aspen Ridge, backing up to Highway 20, with the groomed trail system right below the property. If sleds aren't your thing, the West Yellowstone snowcoach tours are 20 minutes away.

🛷 Island Park groomed trails

The Island Park / Fremont County trail system has 500+ miles of groomed snowmobile trails across Island Park, Ashton and the surrounding backcountry, and you ride onto them from the trail along Hwy 20 at the bottom of the property. No trailering to a trailhead each morning. Check the Fremont County grooming report before you ride.

🚌 Yellowstone by snowcoach

In winter Yellowstone's West Entrance is closed to cars and open to guided snowcoach and snowmobile tours that leave from West Yellowstone, about 20 minutes from the cabin. Old Faithful, the Firehole geyser basins and bison in the steam, with far fewer people than July. The 2026–27 oversnow season opens December 15 and runs to mid-March. Our snowcoach vs. snowmobile guide walks through how to choose.

🎿 Harriman State Park

About 15 minutes away, Harriman grooms cross-country ski and snowshoe trails through the old railroad ranch along the Henry's Fork. Moose and trumpeter swans are regulars. A good no-motor day for part of the group.

🦢 Big Springs & the Henrys Fork

Big Springs, a few minutes up the road, is where the Henrys Fork starts: 120 million gallons a day of open water that never freezes, so trumpeter swans and moose hang around all winter. Our Big Springs guide has the story. (Upper and Lower Mesa Falls are closed for construction this winter; the Forest Service expects them back in spring 2027.)

How sleds, trucks and trailers work here

You do not need snowmobiles to reach the cabin. The road is drivable all winter. If you bring sleds, here's the setup.

Attached garage for sled staging

The attached garage is where sleds and gear live during your stay. Pull the sleds in at the end of the day, hang the gear, and ride straight out in the morning. Garage parking for sleds and ATVs.

Ride-out from the cabin

Guests ride from the garage down the property to the groomed trails along Hwy 20, and ride back up to the garage at night. No sleds are provided at the cabin; West Yellowstone and Island Park have rental shops.

Trucks in the driveway, trailers at the lot

The driveway is roomy, about 20 ft wide and 40 ft long, so trucks fit fine. The subdivision roads are plowed narrow in winter, so getting a trailer into the driveway can be tricky. Most guests leave the trailer at the public lot off Red Rock Road (no overnight camping), a couple of blocks away, then either drive up or unload and ride the sleds up to the cabin and into the garage.

Roads plowed, 4WD recommended

In winter (Nov–April) 4WD is highly recommended for the drive up. Roads are plowed but can get slippery in heavy snow. One February guest put it simply: "The roads up to the house were plowed and we didn't have any issues getting to it (definitely recommend 4WD)." — Thomas, via Airbnb/Vrbo

No. The cabin has winter vehicle access: the subdivision roads are plowed all winter and you drive right up to the driveway (4WD highly recommended). Sleds are optional, and none are provided at the cabin.
Is the road plowed? ▾
Yes. Roads are plowed all winter but can get slippery in heavy snow, so 4WD is highly recommended. The subdivision roads are plowed narrow, so getting a trailer into the driveway can be tricky.

At the public lot off Red Rock Road, a couple of blocks away (no overnight camping). Most guests drop the trailer there and either drive up or ride the sleds up to the cabin and into the garage. Trucks fit in the driveway, which is about 20 ft wide. There is also an RV/trailer pad at the cabin for the months when the roads aren't plowed narrow.
Does the hot tub run in winter? ▾

Is there cell service and WiFi? ▾
