Ride from the garage

Drop the trailer at the public lot off Red Rock Road, stage the sleds in our attached garage, and ride down the property to the groomed trails along Hwy 20. Hot tub when you are back.

Backcountry rents in winter only, which is exactly when this code works: December through April, while the Island Park trails are groomed. Rental pricing, availability and policies are set by Backcountry Adventures. Our code applies to direct bookings on this site only (not Airbnb or Vrbo), one code per booking.

The cabin

An A-frame lodge built for a sled group

Four bedrooms sleep 10 in winter (the summer bunkhouse is closed for the season). Gas fireplace in the great room, a kitchen that feeds the whole crew, washer and dryer for the wet gear, and the hot tub under the covered patio.

Stage the sleds and hang the gear. Not heated; it keeps the snow off, not the cold.
Trailer
Public lot off Red Rock Road
A couple of blocks away, holds trailers for the season. Trucks fit in the 20-ft-wide driveway.
Roads
Plowed all winter, 4WD recommended
Roads are plowed all winter but get slippery in heavy snow, so 4WD is highly recommended November through April.
Trails
Groomed trails along Hwy 20
Ride down the property onto the Island Park / Fremont County system, 500+ groomed miles. Check the grooming report before you ride.

About 20 minutes

Backcountry guests ask

Do we need our own snowmobiles to reach the cabin? ▾
No. The subdivision roads are plowed all winter and you drive right to the driveway (4WD highly recommended). Rent from Backcountry Adventures in West Yellowstone, trailer them over, and stage them in our attached garage. No sleds are provided at the cabin.
Where do we park the trailer? ▾
Subdivision roads are plowed narrow, so getting a trailer into the driveway can be tricky. Most guests leave the trailer at the public lot off Red Rock Road, a couple of blocks away (no overnight camping there), then drive up or ride the sleds up to the cabin and into the garage. Trucks fit in the driveway, which is about 20 ft wide.

Is the garage heated? Does the hot tub run in winter? ▾
The attached garage is for staging sleds and gear and is not heated. The private hot tub under the covered patio runs all winter and is serviced between guests.
